Discover Acme Coffee Roasting Co

Walking into Acme Coffee Roasting Co feels like stepping into a place where coffee isn’t rushed. The aroma hits first-freshly roasted beans with a nutty, slightly sweet edge-and then the easy chatter of locals who clearly treat this spot as part of their daily routine. I stopped by during a recent drive through Seaside and ended up staying far longer than planned, which says a lot. Located at 485 B Palm Ave, Seaside, CA 93955, United States, it’s tucked just enough off the main road to feel like a neighborhood secret while still being easy to find.

What stood out immediately was how intentional everything felt. I chatted briefly with one of the baristas about their roasting process, and they explained how small-batch roasting allows better control over flavor development. That lines up with what the Specialty Coffee Association has long emphasized: precise roast profiles help preserve origin characteristics rather than masking them with bitterness. You can taste that care in the cup. My go-to order, a simple pour-over, had clear notes of citrus and chocolate without needing sugar or cream. That balance doesn’t happen by accident.

The menu keeps things focused rather than overwhelming. You’ll find classic espresso drinks, rotating single-origin options, and a few seasonal specialties that change depending on what’s fresh and available. Instead of flashy combinations, the emphasis is on quality beans and clean extraction. I appreciated that approach because, according to a 2023 National Coffee Association report, over 60% of U.S. adults now drink coffee daily, and many are seeking better quality rather than just stronger caffeine hits. Acme clearly understands that shift.

Food options are modest but thoughtful. Fresh pastries pair naturally with the drinks, and everything feels curated rather than mass-produced. One regular at the counter mentioned he stops in every Saturday after his morning surf session, calling it best coffee stop in Seaside. That kind of word-of-mouth matters more than any flashy sign. Reviews around town echo the same sentiment, often highlighting consistency and friendly service as much as flavor.

From a professional standpoint, what impressed me most was their sourcing transparency. The staff openly talks about bean origins, roast dates, and brew methods without sounding scripted. This mirrors best practices recommended by coffee researchers at institutions like UC Davis, where studies have shown that freshness and grind consistency are two of the biggest factors in cup quality. Acme’s grinders are dialed in carefully, and you can see baristas adjusting them throughout the day as humidity and temperature shift.

The atmosphere also plays a role in why people linger. There’s a mix of students with laptops, retirees catching up over cappuccinos, and travelers who wandered in after checking maps. Seating is comfortable, music stays low enough for conversation, and nobody rushes you out. One customer summed it up perfectly by saying feels like a local living room, and that felt accurate.

Of course, no place is perfect. Seating can fill up quickly during peak morning hours, and parking nearby sometimes requires a short walk. Still, those are minor trade-offs for a spot that clearly values craft and community. If you’re exploring coffee locations around Seaside or reading reviews to find a place that prioritizes flavor, transparency, and genuine hospitality, this diner-style café delivers in a way that feels honest and grounded in real experience.

  • Swung by for a latte. It was a busy place and had that cool local vibe to it. Grabbed a great latte and a cool Shirt while passing through. They don’t roast here anymore as it’s done in a different location now. Regardless the coffee was A plus. Will be back again and again

  • Acme Coffee is absolutely amazing! Huge shout out to Alexis - She is awesome! Two days in a row she gave us the best drink recommendations and even tipped us off to some great local hikes. The coffee here is excellent, and their chai deserves a special mention. It is unsweetened, made in-house, and honestly one of the best I have ever had. I do not usually go back to the same coffee shop twice when traveling, but Acme won me over. The vibe, the service, and the quality are just that good. They also have a fun selection of chocolates and plenty of gluten-free baked goods if you want something in the morning. Highly recommend stopping by!

  • I tried the Vietnamese hot coffee at Acme Coffee Roasting and it was really good. It had a rich flavor and the perfect sweetness, and honestly, it was the best way to start my morning. Definitely worth a visit!

  • The first and only real cappuccino i had in America in the last 2 weeks. It’s not the best ever, but really nice. The almond croissant was very tasty. But the price, the price…

  • There are plenty of places to grab coffee along the Monterey Peninsula, but few compare to Acme Coffee Roasting Company in Seaside. For me, this spot isn’t just about caffeine it’s about how I like to start my day, set my tone, and plug into a community that feels like home. Whenever I’m in town, Acme is my go-to stop, and it has easily become my favorite coffee shop in the area. My mornings at Acme usually begin with one thing: a Vietnamese iced coffee. Strong, sweet, and perfectly balanced, it’s exactly the pick-me-up I need to jumpstart the day. There’s something about the way they prepare it that just hits different the smoothness of the coffee combined with the richness of the condensed milk, poured over ice so it’s cold and refreshing without losing any boldness. It’s a drink that wakes you up but also feels indulgent, like a small reward to start the morning right. After trying Vietnamese iced coffees elsewhere, I can say Acme’s version is one of the best I’ve had. It has quickly become my ritual, the thing I look forward to when I know I’ve got a busy day ahead. But what makes Acme more than just a coffee stop is the service and the people. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by staff who genuinely care about the product they’re serving and the customers they’re serving it to. They know their regulars, they’re quick with a smile or a friendly hello, and they move with a kind of efficiency that makes the line go quickly without ever making you feel rushed. It’s clear they love what they do, and that energy carries over into how you feel as a customer. The vibe inside Acme is another thing that keeps me coming back. It’s casual, unpretentious, and filled with the aroma of freshly roasted beans that makes you want to linger just a little longer than you planned. The décor is simple and functional, but that’s what makes it feel authentic this isn’t a place that needs to dress itself up with gimmicks. The coffee speaks for itself, and the environment invites you to slow down and enjoy it. Whether you’re grabbing a cup to go or sitting down for a while, it feels comfortable and real. And then there’s the community. Acme is more than a coffee shop; it’s a gathering spot. On any given morning, you’ll see locals catching up with friends, students working on assignments, and travelers discovering the place for the first time. There’s an energy in the air that reminds you why small businesses matter so much. Acme doesn’t just sell coffee it builds connections. It’s a place where you feel a part of something bigger than yourself, even if it’s just for a few minutes before you head off to work or school. What I love most is that Acme has managed to balance being a neighborhood staple while also being welcoming to newcomers. Whether it’s your first visit or your hundredth, you feel the same sense of inclusion. That’s a rare thing, and it’s what makes Acme stand out in a crowded coffee scene. At the end of the day, Acme Coffee Roasting Company isn’t just my favorite coffee spot in Seaside it’s part of my daily rhythm. The Vietnamese iced coffee fuels me, the service lifts me, the vibe calms me, and the community connects me. It’s everything I want in a coffee shop rolled into one. If you’re ever in Seaside, do yourself a favor and stop by. For me, it’s not just coffee it’s how I start my day on the right note.

  • One of the best coffees I’ve ever had. Espresso is perfectly balanced! Bought a few bags to take home. Wish there was a sitting area but the service was quick and friendly.

  • Coffee is a bittersweet affair. Starting the day with a good cup is an instantaneous mood-lifter, a bad one and you wonder why you bothered crawling out of bed. I love coffee, but only GOOD COFFEE. Very few places, about a handful if even that, can hit the sweet spot (good beans does not mean good coffee). Normally, I go to the same shop every day because I'm very particular. That being said, new town, new haunt. I will say this--I'm really, and I mean REALLY, glad I came here. The coffee at Acme retained the nuance of flavors without being harsh on the palate. Aromatic and well balanced, Acme has, without exaggeration, some of the best coffee I've ever had. I've found my new haunt for Monterey. My only regret is that I can't take them with me when I leave. TLDR: Stellar coffee, amazing staff. Can't ask for anything more.
